Devon Conway Donates His Debut Test Gloves To MCC Museum

Kiwi opener Devon Conway donated his gloves with which he played his debut Test innings in international cricket. He scored a 200 on debut against England at The Lord’s and overall scored 223 in the first test which ended as a draw. New Zealand won the second Test in Edgbaston to win the series 1-0. He is a part of New Zealand playing XI for the ongoing World Test Championship final.

Meanwhile, the Marylebone Cricket Club posted a picture on Twitter of Devon Conway’s gloves which he has given up as a donation. The gloves are now a part of the MCC Museum which houses some of the most personal souvenirs of cricketers.

“Thank you to Devon Conway who has donated the gloves from his debut at the @HomeOfCricket to the MCC Museum” wrote the official Twitter handle of the Marylebone Cricket Club.

Devon Conway Donates His Gloves to MCC Museum

Devon Conway after his first Test ended up being the highest scorer on his Test debut entering a league of well-known cricketers. He scored 200 as the Kiwis scored 378 in their first innings.

England in reply were bowled out for 275 in their first innings with Rory Burns scoring a gutsy 132. Joe Root and Ollie Robinson scored 42 each to take England to that score.

The Test match ended in a draw with rain affecting the third-days play leaving not enough time to play for a win. The Kiwis according to many cricket experts head into the WTC final having an edge over India since their first-hand experience of the conditions.

Meanwhile, the World Test Championship final is finally underway after the first day was washed out due to rain. New Zealand won the toss and asked India to bat first. India, on the other hand, have lost both their openers with lunch in sight.

The Kiwis have fielded a five-man pace attack with Colin De Grandhomme being the specialist all-rounder in the line-up. Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Neil Wagner and Kyle Jamieson forms the rest of the Kiwi bowling attack.

India, on the other hand have fielded two spinners in Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin keeping the conditions out of the equation, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah completes India’s five-man bowling attack.
