Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel has said that he is excited to meet his Rajasthan Royals teammates Ben Stokes and Joe Root in the upcoming five-match Test series between India and England.
The 22-year-old has earned a surprise maiden Test call-up for the series. He has been named in the squad for the first two games of the five-Test series. With Ishan Kishan sidelined since taking a break from the game last month, Dhruv Jurel has earned his maiden call-up from the Test side. He is one of the three wicketkeepers in the squad with KL Rahul and KS Bharat being the other two.
Dhruv Jurel has been in good form in recent times and has scored three half-centuries in his last three first-class innings. Of those, two came for India A against South Africa A and England A. So far, he has played 15 first-class games and has scored 790 runs with the help of 1 century and 5 half-centuries.
Dhruv Jurel is excited to meet Ben Stokes and Joe Root:
Speaking to the Times of India, Dhruv Jurel stated that he is excited to meet England Test captain Ben Stokes and his predecessor Joe Root. The youngster shared the dressing room with the English stars in IPL 2023 while playing for Rajasthan Royals.
Jurel stated that although Stokes displays great aggression on the field, he is remarkably humble off the cricket pitch. He also hailed Root as a class batter before calling him and Stokes the legends of the game.
“I am excited to meet them. I know them personally and have shared the nets and dressing room with them at Rajasthan Royals. Ben Stokes is aggressive on the field but he is so humble when you meet him. He gave me tips. Root is a class batter. He is so calm and talented. I am looking forward to meeting them. They both are legends of the game,” he said.
