Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team right-arm medium pacer Diana Bag is no longer available to take part in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. This is a massive blow for the Women in Green as she has been an integral part of the team for the last couple of years.

Pakistan is placed in a dangerous group that consists of England, Ireland, New Zealand, Rwanda & West Indies. They will have to be spot-on with their game plan as this time all the teams are quite competitive.  The Women in Green doesn’t have an impressive record in T20 WC.

Diana Baig Injured

The medium pacer has had a history of injuries, she recently had a shoulder injury . She fractured her finger during the 2nd ODI against Australia on Saturday (21st January). The pacer has been replaced by the right handed batter Sadaf Shamas for the rest of the ODI Series against Australia & for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.

Exciting T20 WC on Cards

Pakistan holds a slight edge over West Indies as last time in 2020, they had upset West Indies against all odds. The Women in Green can be the party spoilers. Sadaf Shamas can be the ‘X’ factor for the team as recently she played a terrific knock against Ireland where she scored 72 runs.

Sadaf Shamas inclusion may raise quite a few eyebrows as the board has named a batter in place of the fast bowler. It would be interesting to see whether the likes of Rwanda win against big teams. We have seen a lot of upsets in the T20 WC.

Pakistan squad for Women’s T20 World Cup: Bismah Maroof (capt), Aiman Anwar, Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Naseem, Sadaf Shamas, Fatima Sana, Javeria Khan, Muneeba Ali (wk), Nashra Sandhu, Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Sidra Nawaz (wk), Tuba Hassan
