Dinesh Karthik overlooks Yashasvi Jaiswal as Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli's replacements in T20Is

Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Kartik feels that it will be tough to replace Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the T20Is. However, when he was asked about the future replacements for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on Cricbuzz, the former RCB wicketkeeper picked four names and Yashasvi Jaiswal was not part of them.

According to Dinesh Karthik, Rituraj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Shubman Gill are the four players who can replace Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. However, he also believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal will always make it to the playing 11.

“First of all, they (Rohit and Kohli) are very hard to replace, but in the XI, I do think there are four choices at the moment. There’s Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Shubman Gill. I think Yashasvi Jaiswal will definitely be starting in the XI in T20I cricket", he said.

Shubman Gill was opener with Rohit Sharma across all three formats for few years

Shubman Gill has been the opener for India across all three formats for the last few years. He opened the innings with Rohit Sharma in many crucial tournaments. Last year, Gill also played as one of the openers with Rohit Sharma in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has impressed selectors with his performance in the shortest format and IPL for the last few years. He also showed a wonderful form in the recent T20I series against Zimbabwe.

Abhishek Sharma made his international debut in the previous India vs Zimbabwe T20 series and slammed a century in his second game itself. After his knock, he is being seen as a valuable replacement for Rohit Sharma as an opener in T20Is.

Tilak Varma made his debut last year after his wonderful performances for the Mumbai Indians team. He is a left-handed batter and bats in the top order and has also played many hard-hitting knocks after making his international debut.
