The highly-anticipated ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to take place in June this year. The tournament will be co-hosted by the United States of America and the West Indies from June 1 to 29.
And ahead of the tournament, Disney+ Hotstar has announced that mobile users will be able to catch all the action in the T20 World Cup for free on the platform. The OTT platform will offer free-to-view streaming of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, without requiring a subscription. As a result, the fans will be able to catch all the games on their mobile phones without spending their money.
Disney+ Hotstar has been streaming major cricket tournaments for free in recent times with experts suggesting that the company decided to regain its subscribers. Last year, they streamed the Asia Cup as well as the ODI World Cup for free on mobile phones after JioCinema streamed IPL 2023 for free.
“Making the Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup available to a wider audience, we believe, will help us grow the overall eco-system,” Head of Disney+ Hotstar Sajith Sivanandan had said last year.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024:
A total of 20 teams will be participating in ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The 20 teams have been divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eights. In the Super Eight stage, the eight teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the semifinals.
As far as Team India are concerned, they are in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA. The Men in Blue will be opening their campaign on June 5 against Ireland before taking on Pakistan four days later. On June 12, they will face the USA before playing against Canada on June 15 in their final group game.
India have not won the T20 World Cup since winning the inaugural edition in 2007 and will be desperate to go all the way this year. England are the reigning champion and is placed in Group B alongside Australia, Oman, Namibia, and Scotland.
