Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav was overwhelmed after seeing his name in India’s T20 World Cup squad and thanked his family and coaches for their contribution.

On Wednesday, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for the mega event to be played next month in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Suryakumar, who made his T20I debut against England in March this year, started of his career with a spectacular six against Jofra Archer and scored 57 runs from 31 balls in his debut innings in the fourth T20I.

In the Sri Lanka tour, Suryakumar accumulated 124 runs from three innings at an average of 62.00 and also smashed a fifty in the only T20I match he played before he was isolated with several players after all-rounder Krunal Pandya contracted the COVID-19 virus.

Yadav had to hold patience to make his way in the Indian team as his performances for India’s A team and Mumbai Indians merited his selection in the team. His inclusion will strengthen the middle-order of the Indian batting line-up.

The 30-year-old took to his Twitter account to express his gratitude towards his close contacts and said that he was emotional to get the opportunity.

“Dreams do come true. Very honoured and emotional on getting this opportunity to represent my country in the T20 World Cup,” Suryakumar tweeted.

“BIG thank you to my coaches and family for their sacrifices and constant love & support. Completely overwhelmed on receiving so many wishes#blessed,” he added.
