Duleep Trophy 2024 squads for second round revealed; replacements named for India Test team players

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (9th September) revealed the squads for the second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024. The second phase of the Indian domestic tournament will begin from 12th September with the games set to be played at Ananthpur.

India A squad in the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024 will be captained by Mayank Agarwal after Shubman Gill was named in the Indian squad for the first Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. Along with Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep, who played in the first round, have also been named in the national team squad.

In place of Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep, the BCCI has added Akshay Narang, SK Rasheed, and Shams Mulani to the team. Also, Prasidh Krishna has retained his place in the team and will be featured in the squad, having missed the first round of the tournament due to injury.

Also, Vidwath Kaverappa, Kumar Kushagra, and Shaswat Rawat have been released from the squad. The team will be coached by Sunil Joshi and will be playing next match against India D. They lost the first game to India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Abhimanyu Easwaran will continue captaining India B in the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, and Yash Dayal will be leaving the team for the Indian team for Bangladesh Tests, and in their place, Rinku Singh, Suyash Prabhudessai and Himanshu Mantri have been added into the team.

India B team had a decent outing in the first game of Duleep Trophy 2024. They played a magnificent brand of cricket and won the game despite being in a pressure situation. The Abhimanyu Easwaran-led side bagged important 6 points and would want to continue their good form even in the absence of Indian players.

India C team reportedly will see no change for the Duleep Trophy 2024. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be captaining the team. They had a sensational outing in the first team as they won the game against India D. It is expected that Suryakumar Yadav, who missed the first round due to injury, will be playing in the second round.

India D will witness two changes going into the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024. Nishant Sindhu will replace Axar Patel while Vidwath Kaverappa will be replacing Tushar Deshpande. The fast bowler got injured and has been ruled out of the tournament. Shreyas Iyer will be continuing to lead the Indian team even after they lost the first game.
