Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja thanked its counterpart England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for confirming the tour.

A day after Australia’s tour of Pakistan in 2022 was announced, ECB announced that the England Cricket team will be touring to Pakistan in September 2022 to play seven T20Is.

This move comes after England had pulled out of the Pakistan tour in October for both the men and women’s teams.

We and the ECB must walk together: Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja said that ECB has understood their mistake and also asked them to mutually work together in order to maintain cordial relations.

I’m thankful to the England Cricket Board (ECB), as it wasn’t easy for them. They were under pressure, and we became emotional when the pullout took place. Everyone saw how Pakistan made its case, and the result is they came here,” Ramiz Raja said in a video posted on PCB’s official Twitter handle.

“The only thing is we and the ECB must walk together because it’s important for every board to understand each other, their frustrations, meet the expectations. I think the ECB also understood they committed a mistake by withdrawing, and it was a knee-jerk reaction,” he added.

We are also revisiting New Zealand’s tour: Ramiz Raja

ECB Chief Executive Tom Harrison had himself visited Pakistan to meet with Ramiz Raja, and it was in the meeting where they decided to sort out the issue.

Before England, the New Zealand cricket team had pulled out of the limited-overs tour at the very last moment, citing security concerns.

Raja appreciated ECB for solving the matter by accepting their mistake and also hoped to get the New Zealand tour back in line.

This tour was important, and it’s their gratefulness. Coming over here to sort things out and accepting their fault and promising to play two additional T20Is is good news for our fans because I believe Pakistan should have a home season, so spectators come and watch and top teams should tour,” Ramiz Raja said.

“We are also revisiting New Zealand’s tour, and when I go to Dubai, we might announce a schedule. However, England and Australia tours are massive breakthroughs, and I expect our side to perform well.

“I want us to be a proud nation and our fans, our team, and the board to be respected. Also, if we are firm and honest, we need not fear anybody,” he concluded.

Pakistan cricket team is having a great run in the T20 world cup, having won all five games in Group 2 to become the first team to qualify for the semis.

Pakistan will play against Australia in the second semi-final round in Dubai on November 11.
