The 38-year-old Afghanistan National Cricket Team all-rounder Mohammad Nabi created history as he took the field for his team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against England National Cricket Team on Sunday, October 15.
The match between the defending champions and the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side is currently underway at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
England won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match and during the toss, the English skipper Jos Buttler said that they wanted to chase on the good surface.
Meanwhile, President Nabi was part of the playing XI that Afghanistan fielded against the Three Lions and this was his 150th appearance in One Day International (ODI) cricket.

Mohammad Nabi has become the first-ever player to play 150 ODI matches for Afghanistan National Cricket Team. The President is also the first Afghan player to pick 150 wickets and score over 3000 runs in the format.
Other than Nabi, there are only two Afghanistan players – Asghar Afghan and Rahmat Shah – who have played 100 or more ODI matches. Mohammad Nabi is the second-highest run-getter for Afghanistan in the format, only behind Rahmat Shah. Also, he is the second-highest wicket-taker for Afghans in ODIs, behind Rashid Khan.
In his 150th ODI match, Mohammad Nabi failed to perform with the bat as he was back in the hut after scoring just 9 runs off 15 balls. He was dismissed by the express pacer Mark Wood.
Overall, the veteran all-rounder has scored 3187 ODI runs at an average of 26.78. Talking about his numbers with the ball, Nabi has bagged 154 wickets at an average of 32.62.

Talking about the match, England won the toss and elected to bowl first against Afghanistan. The English bowlers were taken to the cleaners by explosive opening batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
After being smashed all over the park in the initial half of the innings, the England bowlers made a terrific comeback in the match and reduced them from 114/0 to 190/6 very quickly. In the end, the lower order chipped in with crucial runs, and Afghanistan posted 284 runs on the board in 49.5 overs.
