Former Australia wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist brutally roasted Michael Vaughan following England's loss against Sri Lanka in the third and final Test match.
Adam Gilchrist sarcastically congratulated Michael Vaughan, adding that England still managed to win in some way despite their defeat.
The Ollie Pope-led team wasn't at their best during the recent Test against Sri Lanka at The Oval. England failed to complete a clean sweep in the three-match series against Sri Lanka.
The visiting team registered a comfortable eight-wicket victory in the final Test to finish the series on a high note.
The Dhananjaya de Silva-led team chased down the target of 219 runs in just 40.3 overs. Pathum Nissanka scored an unbeaten 127 runs off 124 balls, including 13 boundaries and two sixes.
It is worth mentioning that this was the highest-ever successful run chase by an Asian team in England.
Even When Lose, They Win - Adam Gilchrist
Adam Gilchrist took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to take a jibe at Michael Vaughan, who described England's last Test match as a dead rubber. Gilchrist humorously said that England still managed to win despite their defeat.
"Congrats @MichaelVaughan Even when lose, they win! @clubprairiefire," Gilchrist wrote.

Not Too Sure About The Test Match - Michael Vaughan
Speaking on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Michael Vaughan downplayed the importance of the recent Test match at The Oval, describing it as a 'dead rubber.' Vaughan emphasized that the focus should be on the England women's impressive win rather than the Test match.
"The England women beat Ireland by 275. So that was a massive win. That's really the big news in the UK. Not too sure about the test match at The Oval. It was obviously a dead rubber, didn't really count. So we're all talking about that huge win for the women against Ireland, great win for them," Vaughan said.
With the third test being a ‘dead rubber’ Vaughany decided to watch 📺 the impressive England 🏴 women’s side instead this week!

They Did Count That Last Match - Adam Gilchrist
In response, Adam Gilchrist said that the last Test match was counted in the ICC World Test Championship standings.
He pointed out that England is in sixth place in the WTC 2023-25 table. Gilchrist said that England might be approaching a lower tier in the new division system
"I noticed on the Test Championship, they did count that last Test match. What's that? Sixth. So you're just making your top six, top division at the moment," Gilchrist said.
And there's still a bit of time to run on the calendar for this one, but there's a little flaw. You had a top six, second tier of six. We've only got nine entrants at the moment."
Sri Lanka moved ahead of England in the World Test Championship standings. England's next Test series is against Pakistan, which is scheduled to commence on October 7 in Multan.
England will host Australia for three T20Is and five ODIs before traveling to Pakistan for the three-match Test series.
