England men’s team has confirmed its squad for the upcoming 3rd Test against New Zealand at Headingley, with fast bowler Jamie Overton, set to make his Test debut.

After the Englishmen secured the series win with a spectacular win at Trent Bridge, the management is keen to manage the workload of the players. Either James Anderson or Stuart Broad could make way for Overton.

Jamie has been in the fray for making his debut since 2015 but hasn’t managed to break into any of the playing XI’s. He has been instrumental in Surrey’s unbeaten start to the county season and may finally get a chance at representing England at the highest level.

The 28-year-old Jamie is also handy with the bat, scoring in the T20 Vitality Blast at an average of 27 and an even more impressive strike rate of 209.

The most important factor of Jamie’s inclusion will be the variety he brings to the pace attack. In a lineup filled with medium-pace bowlers, the right-armer has much-greater speed and could fill the void left by Jofra Archer.

The England squad will assemble in Headingley by Tuesday afternoon and Jamie will meet up to prepare for the final game. Notably, Harry Brook will remain with the squad while Matt Parkinson was sent back after Jack Leach was able to recover and play in the second Test.
