England Cricket Team changed the face of Test Cricket by playing an attacking brand of cricket in 2022. The duo of Brendon McCullum & Ben Stokes was quite ruthless in their approach as the team registered a series of victories against New Zealand, South Africa & Pakistan.

Ben Stokes, the flamboyant all-rounder stood behind his bowlers and didn’t panic even in tough situations of the match. The skipper managed to score 870 runs with an average of 36.25 & a strike rate of 71.21  where he smashed two centuries and took 26 wickets with an average of 31.19.

Ben Stokes an Asset

Ben Stokes showed great leadership against South Africa as the team had lost the 1st Test and made a resounding comeback and won the series against all the odds. He had smashed a terrific century in the 2nd Test match which changed the complexion of the match & Series as conditions were bowling-friendly. Stokes took 10 wickets in that Series and at the same time his field placements were spot on which made life harder for the batters.

Exciting Series on Cards

England would be tested in the Ashes 2023 as Australia would serve a different challenge altogether. The Ashes 2023 would embark on the start of a new World Test Championship Cycle (WTC 2023-25) where England would be keen to start well as earlier they had lost against Australia by 4-0 which knocked them out of the WTC final race. England finished the 2021-23 cycle at 5th position as they won 10 matches from 22.

There are chances that Jonny Bairstow would be fit as the batter had injured his knee while playing golf which ruled him out of T20 WC 2022. England perhaps will have to change their approach as Australia has got a dangerous bowling unit which can rip off the batting line-up quite easily.
