England will be up against reigning world champions Australia in their first game of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The game will be the fourth of the tournament and is scheduled to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday (February 22).

Things have not gone well for England in recent times. They recently toured India and ended up losing eight of the nine white-ball games. They lost the T20I series by a margin of 4-1 before being whitewashed in the three-match ODI series.

England will be desperate to turn things around and start the tournament on a winning note. So, as England look to beat Australia and get off to a good start, we are taking a look at the England Playing 11 for the AUS vs ENG game.

England Playing 11 vs Australia - Match 4, ICC Champions Trophy 2025:

Openers: Phil Salt (wk), Ben Duckett

Phil Salt and Ben Duckett are set to be the openers in the England Playing 11 for the upcoming game against Australia. The onus will be on Salt and Duckett to give England a good start with the bat in the upcoming game.

Both the openers looked in decent touch during the ODI series against India. While neither of them managed a big score in the series, they did manage to get some much-needed runs under their belt ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Duckett was England's highest run-scorer in the series, scoring 131 runs. On the other hand, Salt scored 92 runs in 3 games.

Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Tom Banton, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (c), Liam Livingstone, Brydon Carse

Not many were expecting Tom Banton to be a part of the England squad for the Champions Trophy. However, with Jacob Bethell suffering a hamstring injury, Banton earned a recall from the England ODI team after a gap of almost three years.

He scored 38 runs in the only ODI that he played against India and will look to make an impact against Australia as well.

Joe Root scored 19, 69 and 24 runs in the three ODIs against India. Although he could not score big in the series, he did look in decent touch and will be keen to do well with the bat against Australia.

Harry Brook had a disastrous tour of India as the right-handed batsman's spin problems were exposed once again. In 3 games against India, he scored only 50 runs. Brook has a good record in Pakistan and he will be taking confidence from his past performances.

Captain Jos Buttler will be looking to lead his team from the front in the upcoming game. England are yet to win the Champions Trophy and Buttler will be eyeing a historic triumph. He has led England to glory in an ICC competition in the past and will be hoping to do it again.

Liam Livingstone and Brydon Carse are set to be the two all-rounders in the England Playing 11 for the forthcoming game.

Bowlers: Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer

England are likely to play the game with two fast bowlers and one spinner. Mark Wood and Jofra Archer are expected to be the two pacers in the England Playing 11. Both the bowlers can bowl consistently above 140kmph and will be looking to trouble the Australian batters with their pace.

Adil Rashid is likely to be the sole specialist spinner in the England Playing 11. The leg-spinner could make a big impact in the Champions Trophy for England.
