England takes on Pakistan in a four-match T20I series ahead of the T20 World CupEngland are the defending champions of the T20 World Cup as well The first T20I will be played at Headingley, Leeds on May 22 from 11 pm IST.

England captain Jos Buttler will have more than one thing to worry about as he leads his side into the first game. Rajasthan Royals will be playing the Eliminator against RCB on Wednesday as well.

From being in a prime position to potentially finish at the top of the table, RR finished third losing four games on the bounce and losing a fair bit of momentum as well.

Meanwhile, England players playing in the IPL have all assembled back for the series against Pakistan starting off with the first T20I. They last played a T20I series against West Indies in December last year which they won 3-2.

England have announced their T20 World Cup 2024 squad and this squad resembles that squad very much. The side has plenty of options to choose from and the return of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood bolsters the bowling attack.

Jos Buttler (C/WK)

Buttler will open the batting for England. He generally bats in the middle-order or at number seven in ODIs but opens the batting in T20Is and smacks it from ball one. He would like to have a good series.

Phil Salt

England should ideally open with Salt keeping his mind his form recently in the IPL. He scored 432 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 182 with 50 fours and 32 sixes.

Harry Brook

Brook might be sent in at three. The talented England batter pulled out of the IPL previously due to personal reasons and will now make a comeback after a long time. He needs to spend time in the middle.

Will Jacks

Another England batting all-rounder Will Jacks can be set in at four. He played just a handful of matches for RCB in the IPL but made very big impact. He also scored a century against GT batting at that number.

Liam Livingstone

The power hitter can slot in at five. He too returned from the IPL. He played just seven games this season and scored 11 runs at an average of just 22.20.

Sam Curran

Curran the all-rounder can slot in at six. He did a good job batting in the middle-order for PBKS and can do the same for England as well. His bowling is also a good asset especially if the ball swings early.

Moeen Ali

The spinner all-rounder can slot in at seven. He has batted up and down the order for England throughout his international career. He has also done a good job at that number in franchise cricket.

Chris Jordan

Jordan can slot in at eight. He hits the ball hard lower down the batting lineup and is the specialist death-over bowler for the national side. He nails his yorkers at the death.

Adil Rashid

The leggie can slot in at nine. He has plenty of experience playing T20I cricket for England and sits on 107 T20I wickets from 104 matches.

Jofra Archer

Archer will slot in at 10. He is coming back after a break and England would like him to bowl at his full pace and get some match practice ahead of the mega event.

Mark Wood

Wood is likely to conclude England's playing XI. The Pakistan players are not good players of the short-pitched bowling and that is where Archer and Wood can target the team's weakness.
