England play Scotland in their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign opener on June 4, Tuesday. The match starts at 8 pm IST which is 10.30 am local time. This is the first-ever T20I match between the two sides.

England are led by Jos Buttler. He recently led his side to a 2-0 series win against Pakistan. The Englishmen dominated the Pakistan side completely in the two games that were played. They are placed alongside Australia, Oman, and Namibia in Group B. England and Australia are expected to progress to the next round. However, the other teams cannot be taken lightly.

Heading into this World Cup, they are the defending champions having won the T20 World Cup last year. The side looks well-rounded with enough depth in batting and bowling. The batting form of Buttler and Phil Salt is one of the biggest strengths of England's success.

England defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets in a 158-run chase in their previous game. The side can very well retain the same playing XI against Scotland. They have enough variety in the bowling attack as well to challenge the Scotts. England were eliminated in the league stage of the 50-over World Cup. They will look for a better performance in the T20 World Cup.

Jonny Bairstow

Bairstow can slot in at four. He is experienced enough to bat anywhere in the top order. He scored 28 off 16 balls and hit a few cracking shots against Pakistan.

Harry Brook

Brook will slot in at five. He scored a few runs against Pakistan (17 off 14) that will boost his confidence in this World Cup. He took a break from the IPL for personal reasons.

Moeen Ali

The England all-rounder will bat at six. He is a very capable batter lower down the order and is the seasoned off-spinner alongside Adil Rashid.

Liam Livingstone

Livingstone will slot in at seven. He is a hard-hitter lower down the order and someone who can bowl both off and leg spin. He is a brilliant fielder as well.

Chris Jordan

Jordan will slot in at eight. He is England's death-over specialist and a decent enough batter lower down the order. He took one for 24 against Pakistan.

Jofra Archer

Archer has returned fit into the side. He has bowled with pace in the two games that he played against Pakistan. He took two wickets in the first T20I and 1/31 in the last.

Mark Wood

Wood will be the second pacer in the XI. He bowled with pace and took 2/35 against Pakistan. ECB did not allow him to play in the IPL as they wanted him to stay fresh for the World Cup.
