Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria felt that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli should be the one to score that big knock in the second innings of the Headingley Test if India has to stand a chance. So far, in the first two days, it has been one-way traffic for England side and it will be a huge task from here one for the Indian side.
The Virat Kohli-led team have already conceded a lead of 345 runs as Joe Root’s scintillating century and half-centuries from the top 3 batsmen made it really difficult for India to come back into the game after being all out for 78. The onus will be on the Indian batters to put up a strong performance in the second innings.
Danish Kaneria Wonders If Indian Batting Lineup Has The Goods To Deliver
Danish Kaneria wondered if the Indian batting lineup still has the players who could score a double century. He reckoned that Virat Kohli hasn’t made a century for the last 50 innings in international cricket and it is going to be difficult for him to score his eighth double century now. He added Kohli should be the man to do the job for India still.
“Which batsman does the Indian batting line-up have that can score a double century? Kohli has scored seven double centuries, but he has played 50 innings now without a ton. I’m expecting Kohli to make a big one over,’ here” Danish Kaneria told on his YouTube Channel.
Danish Kaneria Feels India The Indian Openers Have The Quality to Score Big
Danish Kaneria mentioned that the Indian openers Rohit and KL Rahul have the ability to play big innings apart from Virat Kohli. He added that India will have to bat at least 2 entire days if they have to at least save this test and the pitch has also become better to bat on.
“‘Apart from Kohli, the likes of Rohit Sharma and Rahul can also score big. All these three players have the quality to make big runs. We saw KL Rahul and Rohit make runs at Lord’s.
India need them, and they will have to do the task. Have to bat 2 days, it is a difficult task, against this England bowling attack. We have seen the entire day that the wicket has become better, there are no such demons in it,” he added.
England on the other hand will be looking to close out this Test as soon as possible after their loss in the Lord’s test.
