BCCI President Sourav Ganguly backed the new captain-coach duo of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to come good for India in the upcoming two years. The 2022 T20 World Cup and 2023 ODI World Cup will be the biggest challenge for the pair.

Rohit took over the white-ball captaincy from Virat Kohli while Dravid came in the place of Ravi Shastri. India has failed to win an ICC trophy for over eight years now – the previous being the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy – and so there is immense pressure on both.

I wish them all the best. They have had great careers so far and I am sure they will do well for India. I cannot predict what is going to happen, but there is enough confidence in both to do well.

I don’t expect and don’t want to put pressure on them by expecting too much. I just wish them all the very best. I hope they do well. They are a great side, who will always be contenders and I hope they play well,” Ganguly told Sportstar.

“I Don’t Think’s It’s More Challenging” – Sourav Ganguly on leading BCCI compared to leading India

Comparing his tenure as the President of BCCI to that of India’s captain, Ganguly said that the former isn’t as challenging. While the board matters are worked out behind the scene, captaincy on the field is there for everyone to see.

I don’t think it’s more challenging. What’s my legacy? Well, I won’t be able to tell it now. Let’s see what happens. It is for you all to judge my legacy, it is what it is. But it has been under tough circumstances due to COVID-19 over the last two years.

“The pandemic has wreaked havoc all over the world and we are fortunate that we could still manage to get a majority of cricket done,” Ganguly added.
