Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq clarified the context behind his viral ‘sweet mangoes’ post on Instagram during the 2023 IPL season. Naveen-ul-Haq revealed that he was enjoying mangoes in front of a screen, not intending to comment on the player displayed.

Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq were involved in a heated argument during the match between LSG and RCB in the IPL 2023. Naveen posted a ‘sweet mangoes’ story during Kohli’s dismissal in the MI vs RCB match, which went viral across social media platforms.

I Didn’t Say Anything – Naveen-ul-Haq

In a video released by LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq explained that the post wasn’t directed at Virat Kohli, as many assumed. The young pacer mentioned that the caption ‘sweet mangoes’ was a reference to his love for mangoes.

“I had told Dhaval bhai (LSG team logistics) that I wanted to eat mangoes. And he got mangoes that night itself. When we went to Goa, he brought mangoes. So I was sitting in front of the screen and eating mangoes. There was no picture or anything (of Kohli), it was a Mumbai Indians player on the screen. So I wrote ‘sweet mangoes’ and everyone took it in a different way. So even I didn’t say anything, I just left it. I thought it was mango season, so people’s shops should also do well,” said Naveen.

LSG have retained Naveen-ul-Haq ahead of the mini-auction scheduled for December 19 in Dubai. The franchise has released eight players, including Jaydev Unadkat, Manan Vohra, Swapnil Singh, Daniel Sams, Karan Sharma, Arpit Guleria, Suryansh Shedge, and Karun Nair.
