Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) came again under fire as one of their 'injured' players, Fakhar Zaman, featured in National T20 Cup matches. The cricket board previously informed that Zaman was not fit to play against Bangladesh for the recently concluded 3-match ODI series, as he reported being injured.

Questions started to rise against the Pakistan Cricket Board, the cricketer, who was injured according to the board, played back-to-back matches in the last few days.

Was Fakhar Zaman really injured before the Bangladesh series?

Former Pakistan cricket Abdur Rauf, sharing a photo of Fakhar Zaman's magnificent fielding effort, pointed a finger towards the board. Rauf asked the board if a player was omitted from the ODI squad, stating an injury issue, then how he played matches in the National T20 Cup?

"A day ago, out selection committee declared him injured and demanded an inquiry. What a great minds and visionary people we have to run out cricket", the former cricketer raised his concerns on a 'X' post.

Pakistan Cricket Board selectors urged for an inquiry

During a press conference with Misbah-ul-Haq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Asad Shafique, who are also part of the men's selection committee, Aaqib Javed informed that Fakhar and Babar Azam were injured to play the ODI series against Bangladesh. They asked the Pakistan Cricket Board to run an inquiry to find out how two cricketers who were part of the T20 World Cup 2026 squad suddenly injured themselves, before a crucial bilateral series.

"Fakhar Zaman is also injured – on this, we have also requested the cricket board for an inquiry. How can it be that Fakhar is also unfit, that only after the World Cup is over, these two players' injuries have come to us? During the World Cup, when they were playing, was their fitness not being taken care of? Were they in the squad without being fully fit? We are selectors; we should know these things," Aaqib Javed said in the press conference.

"But when you go to a World Cup, whatever health issues or injury issues there are, your head coach, your physio, need to keep an update, and we should know these things," he further added.

Fakhar Zaman is likely to feature in the upcoming Pakistan Super League season as well

Later, Fakhar Zaman replied by saying that the selectors were right, he was not fit to play the 3-match ODI series. He participated in the National T20 Cup after clearing the fitness tests.

"I was not 100% fit to play 50-over games. In that case, Aqib Javed was right. I'm playing these games after clearing the fitness tests on 15th", Zaman replied back to Andur Rauf in 'X'.

As he got declared fit to play competitive matches, the top-order batter is expected to play in the eleventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is all set to start from March 26. Zaman will play for Lahore Qalandars in the upcoming league.
