Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have a few issues to figure out before the IPL 2025 mega auction. They finished fifth on the points table with seven wins and as many losses.
The management named Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain before the start of the season. MS Dhoni stepped down as captain and batted way lower down the order at number eight. He played a few important cameos.
However, the question for CSK heading into the IPL 2025 mega auction is how long will they push MS Dhoni's case in the IPL.
As per reports, they are trying to retain him as an uncapped player as he is retired from international cricket. The rule was abolished in 2021 but the Super Kings management are trying their best to bring it back in.
However, MS Dhoni has said that he will decide on his IPL future once the new IPL rules are laid out by the BCCI and the IPL governing council. In this article, we figure out, that three Indian players CSK will released ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

CSK have several young and uncapped players in their squad. They believe in giving their players a long run and they will have to figure out whom they want to retain and who can they release.
The franchise has always been keen to fill the loopholes in both mega and mini-auctions. However, with several changes likely before the next auction, the franchise might have to rethink its auction plans.
Indian Players CSK Will Release Ahead Of IPL 2025 Mega Auction
Mukesh Choudhary
The left-arm seamer who picked 16 wickets in his debut season in 2022 missed the next season with an injury. In 2024, he played just one match and bowled the second-most expensive over against SRH.
With CSK having enough options for seam bowling, Mukesh fell out of favor after an expensive spell against SRH. He might be one of the players who will be released by CSK.
Prashant Solanki
Prashant Solanki the leggie might be the other player likely to be released by CSK. He played just two matches for the franchises in 2022. Over the next two seasons, he has been warming the bench with Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and Maheesh Theekshana being the specialist spinners for the side.
The uncapped Indian player was enlisted with a base price of Rs 20 lakhs. However, a fierce bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings saw it finally ending at Rs 1.2 crores at the IPL 2022 auction.
Sameer Rizvi
Rizvi played two games for CSK in IPL 2024. Against Punjab Kings, he scored 21 while against RR he scored an unbeaten 15. However, he was not at his free-flowing best. Rizvi made a name for himself playing in the UP T20 league where he scored runs at an aggressive strike rate.
He made a reputation for scoring quick runs and was even compared to Suresh Raina who has been a legend in the IPL. However, Rizvi was not able to show his full prowess with the bat which is why he might be released ahead of the mega auction.
