SRH finished as the finalists of the IPL 2024 displaying a unique attacking gameplan against all opposition. They were the first among all the teams to play with an attacking template within the powerplay and other teams followed suit.

Under Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad redefined batting in the powerplay. SRH co-owner is now worried about retentions heading into the IPL 2025 mega auctions. At the meeting held between the IPL owners and the BCCI, she came out with two strong suggestions.

SRH was the first franchise that requested BCCI to allow players to retain at least 7-8 players or allow a similar number of RTMs. The franchises almost unanimously wanted the mega auctions to be abolished and preferred the mini-auctions otherwise. They found support from KKR as well who were against mega auctions.

Kavya Maran further wants the BCCI to suspend overseas players who skip the IPL season after enrolling themselves for the auction from the next season.

The BCCI in response said that they will decide on the retentions and other rules by the end of the month. Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at three Indian players SRH will release ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Indian Players SRH Will Release Ahead Of IPL 2025 Mega Auction

Umran Malik

Malik came out as a breakout pacer after IPL 2022 where he picked up 22 wickets. Batters found it hard to tackle his pace. His IPL success also led to his India white-ball debut. However, with time, he became wayward and lost his place in the sie. From playing games in IPL 2022, he played just five in 2023 to just one in 2024.

The management did not trust his pacer and very soon his promising aspect of fast bowling became his most dangerous weapon that kept him out of the team. It will be interesting to see if other franchises bid for him if he is released by SRH.

Mayank Agarwal

With Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head forging a brilliant partnership up at the top, Mayank Agarwal's spot is in danger in the side. He has not made the most of his chances given by the management.

He scored just 64 runs last season at an average of 16.00 in four matches with a best of just 32. He is not a regular in the Indian sides as well which might well rule him out of favour by SRH.

Jaydev Unadkat

The experienced India and IPL pacer Jaydev Uadkat might be the third player released by SRH. He has represented several franchises in the IPL but none of the teams have held onto him for a long time. He played 11 matches for SRH in IPL 2024 picking up 8 wickets.

Despite not being consistent for any of the teams, over the years, franchises have seemed interested in bidding for him. He was the most expensive Indian player in the Indian Premier League 2018 Auction when Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 11.50 crores. His India career did not take off either. Heading into next season, he is one short of 100 IPL wickets.
