Delhi Capitals finished seventh on the points table in IPL 2024 which marked the return of Rishabh Pant as captain. An ordinary season overall, Pant had a good outing with the bat scoring over 400 runs in the season. He eventually ended with 446 runs at an average over 40.
Delhi Capitals are among the original three franchises to never have won the IPL. They had two good seasons in IPL 2020 and 2021 when they made it to the playoffs.
Before the IPL meeting, Ricky Ponting pulled out as the coach of the franchise after coaching them for seven seasons in the league.
Sourav Ganguly is expected to replace him. Ponting who was a successful captain in his playing days could not replicate his success as a coach in the IPL
However, things started to slow down for the franchise with Pant's injury forcing him to pull out of IPL 2024. He was the one-man show on his Delhi Capitals return in IPL 2024. Thus the franchise is looking for an overhaul again as they look to end their title drought.

The overseas players in the franchise could not make an impact with either bat or ball. In the recent meeting between the IPL owners and the BCCI, retention was one of the most debated topics.
SRH owner Kavya Maran spoke about the teams being allowed to retain at least 7-8 players so that much of the core can be retained. She also spoke about the mega auctions being abolished to allow the franchise's continuity with players.
The BCCI in response said that they will weigh in on the suggestions put forward and come out with a decision by the end of the month. In this article, we predict three overseas players Delhi Capitals will release ahead of the next mega auction.

Mitchell Marsh
Marsh has been injury-prone throughout his IPL career. Previously while playing for SRH he was ruled out due to injury concerns. Since joining Delhi Capitals, he has not been at his best for the franchise.
In 21 matches for the franchise, he has scored 440 runs over two years. He has averaged just above 20 which is not good for a player of his caliber. The Delhi Capitals management might look beyond him.
Harry Brook
Brook was roped in by Delhi Capitals for 4 crores. However, the England batter pulled out citing personal reasons leaving the franchise in trouble and needing to replace him. This attitude from the England players is what many of the franchises spoke about. Given that Brook showed no interest in playing for DC, they might release him and look for better options in the mega auctions.
Jhye Richardson
The Australian pacer might be released by the franchise heading into the next IPL mega auction THey preferred using Anrich Nortje ahead of him, given his raw pace. The Australian pacer has played in the IPL before but has not delivered consistently for the teams he has played for which is why has lost their favour.
