Roya Challengers Bangalore finished fourth on the IPL 2024 points table after they lost the Eliminator to Rajasthan Royals. It was yet another year for RCB when they came close to winning the title but unfortunately could not.

There has been a lot of talk within the franchise of a few players likely to leave. Among the names coming up are Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. People have guessed that about Maxwell seeing him unfollow RCB's official Twitter handle.

In the meeting between the IPL owners and BCCI, there have been debates about several topics and retention has been one of them. A franchise like KKR and SRH have requested the BCCI to allow teams to retain at least seven players or allow them to use seven RTM.

The BCCI has said that they will review all the options before finalizing the number of retentions. This keeps the franchises on the edge about retaining the best possible core of the side. Royal Challengers Bangalore have been batting heavy over the years and it will be interesting to see how they manage their retentions.

Over the years they have been very dependent on their overseas players AB De Villiers, Chris Gayle, and Shane Watson amongst others. They were very dependent on the likes of Faf and Maxwell as well besides Virat Kohli. Once again, the management will have to form the team around Kohli, especially in the batting order.

Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at three overseas players RCB can release ahead of IPL 2025.

Overseas Players Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Will Release Ahead Of IPL 2025 Mega Auction

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell's name has been making the rounds on social media. He has been a heavy scorer for the side between 2021-2023. Maxwell scored 513 runs in 2021 and 301 runs in 2022, laced with several match-winning knocks.

While in 2023, the Australian star scored 400 runs. However, his performance in 2024 was rather erratic as he scored just 52 runs in 10 matches at an average of 5.78 including four ducks.

Faf du Plessis

Faf will turn 40 by the time the next IPL season starts. He has been a heavy scorer for the franchise since he joined in IPL 2022. However, now the management is keen on looking beyond him.

There are reports that RCB is eyeing KL Rahul to add to their squad and also make him the captain of the side. This shows that they are looking for a much younger captain and someone for the long run. Thus Faf in all probability can be the second overseas player released.

Tom Curran

The England all-rounder failed to get even a single match in IPL 2024. He was added to the squad in the IPL 2024 mini-auction for his base price of 1.50 crores.

However, with the likes of Alzarri Joseph, Reece Topley, and Lockie Ferguson as special overseas bowlers, Cuuran failed to get his opportunity with RCB. Thus he is very much in line to be released by RCB ahead of the next mega auction.
