Mumbai Indians gave a horrible show in IPL 2024. With just 4 wins and 10 defeats across 14 matches, they were the worst performers and finished in the last spot in the points table. Their new skipper Hardik Pandya completely failed to lead the team with a strong show.

3. Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla has been a powerful spinner for Mumbai Indians for the last two seasons. He was the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023 when MI reached the Qualifier 2 match.

Last season, the right-arm spinner gave a decent show with 13 wickets in 11 games. However, Chawla is a veteran spinner and MI will need more young spinners to lead their spin attack in IPL 2025. Hence, the management can release the senior spinner from their side.

2. Dewald Brevis

Dewald Brevis is a young South African player who is part of Mumbai Indians. However, due to the limited number of foreign players in the playing 11 and many batters in the MI squad, Brevis has warmed the bench in most of the matches.

In IPL 2024, he played 3 matches but could not impress with the bat. He added just 69 runs in 3 matches with one good knock of 46. Now, ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, Brevis will be one of the players released by MI.

1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma was the skipper of Mumbai Indians till the 2023 season. In IPL 2024, the franchise replaced him with Hardik Pandya as the skipper and Sharma played under his leadership. However, the move did not work well as MI finished in the last spot in the points table.

Notably, Sharma has retired from T20Is and there were also rumors that he will quit the MI team. Hence, the team might also release him from the squad as they need to go ahead with their new skipper Hardik Pandya.
