Fans on Twitter reacted after India captain Shubman Gill played a slow innings in the ongoing third T20I of the series against the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team. The match between the teams is underway at the Harare Sports Club in Harare
Shubman Gill has been under the firing line in the ongoing T20I series against the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team. The opening batter failed in the first two games of the series and then came up with a decent batting performance in the ongoing game.
Shubman Gill, who opened the innings, looked in great touch as he played some crisp shots in his innings. However, despite having a great start, he couldn't cash in on scoring some runs quickly for his team in the match. The batter got stuck in the crease as the pitch slowed up.
With the way, Shubman Gill started his innings, it was expected that would play an attacking role and help his team post a big total on the board. However, this wasn't the case as he slowed up in the middle phase and as a result of this, India couldn't post a big total on the board.
Shubman Gill although got to a fifty but he wasn't at his fluent best. The batter even after hitting a fifty didn't take the bowlers for runs as he seemed to be in a shell. With the kind of start India had, they looked all set for a 200-total but it's fair to say that the captain's innings put them on the back foot.
Shubman Gill ended with an innings of 66 runs off 49 balls. He had a strike rate of 134 and slammed 7 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad (49) came up with a brutal effort and thanks to that, India ended with 182 runs on the board.

Now when there was an opportunity, instead of demoting himself at that position, he pushed down the centurian Abhishek Sharma.
That seems a very SELFISH captaincy.
How insecure Shubman Gill is, when you have Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma who scored a century in last game but still you promote yourself in place of Abhishek Sharma. Now don't come with Righty-Lefty combination Rutu is also right there who can open the innings. p<!---->i<!---->c<!---->.<!---->t<!---->w<!---->i<!---->t<!---->t<!---->e<!---->r<!---->.<!---->c<!---->o<!---->m<!---->/<!---->L<!---->m<!---->G<!---->W<!---->Y<!---->z<!---->2<!---->4<!---->r<!---->U

Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma should have opened. Shubman Gill should bat at third or fourth position. Unnecessarily, Shubman Gill is creating a lot of pressure. Many times Shubman Gill bats with a modern ODI approach in T20I. His obsession to bat deep can cost team some very important runs when we have batting depth & batting left like today. We could've scored at least 25-30 runs more had he shown a better approach b/w 5th to 16th over.
