Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg has given his verdict on whether he wishes to see Ravichandran Ashwin in India’s white-ball setup again. Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has emerged as one of the greatest match-winners for his country in Tests in recent times. Nevertheless, the veteran cricketer has not donned India’s coloured jersey since 2017, but calls have got louder to return since his terrific performances in Tests.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s inconsistent displays set him down the pecking order in T20Is and ODIs as Yuzevndra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja gave compelling performances to keep him out. But Ashwin has not only been terrific in red-ball cricket but also did well for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020. Thus, his immense success has prompted the fans to see him back in coloured clothing. Ashwin played a crucial role in India’s Test series victory in Australia recently while starring with both bat and ball in the ongoing series against England.
A fan wrote to Brad Hogg on Twitter whether Ravichandran Ashwin could make a comeback in ODI cricket after the Test series against England. The fan also questioned whether the 34-year old could fit in as an all-rounder in the side.
“What is your opinion about it..After India vs England Test series, can Ravichandran Ashwin make a comeback in ODI cricket, can selector pick as a all Rounder into the team?”
I think it is a great option: Brad Hogg
Brad Hogg reacted to the choice by stating that Ravi Ashwin’s addition gives the side an extra layer of depth, enabling the top order to play more aggressively. The Western Australian also feels that Ashwin also offers a wicket-taking option and keeps things economical. Hence, India should get him in the team. The Tamil Nadu cricketer has featured in 111 ODIs and taken 150 wickets at 32.91 while picking up 52 scalps in 46 T20Is.
@ibrahim_3337 I think it is a great option, gives the batting line up extra depth allowing the top order to be more aggressive at the top and he is an wicket taking option with the ball, as well as economical. Get him back in. #INDvENG #Cricket https://t.co/FmChPGK8H2
