The Hundred Tournament has changed the face of franchise cricket as we have witnessed even contests between bat and ball in both Men’s & Women’s tournaments. It won’t be wrong to say that the inception of Hundred in 2021 helped England to win the T20 WC 2022 where they get a gem of a player in the form of Harry Brook.

Many experts believe that The Hundred format can be used in the Olympics as it is action-packed and time-consuming. The peculiarity of Hundred is that a bowler gets tested where we can witness a bowler bowling a 10-ball over. Unlike other leagues, in Hundred so far the wickets have been quite competitive.

Players Retained in Hundred

Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of India’s Women’s Cricket Team is the only player from India who has been retained in the Women’s Hundred tournaments. She will play for Southern Brave in The Hundred 2023 competition. Australia’s Ellyse Perry, Glenn Maxwell, Alyssa Healy, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt are the ones retained by teams.

Exciting Tournament on Cards

113 players have been retained by the franchises combined in both Men’s & Women’s squads., A total of 135 spots remain to be filled at The Hundred Draft. The Hundred Draft will be held on March 23 and for the very first time, the Women’s draft would take place first.

England Cricket Board (ECB) has offered extra incentives for England’s cricketers to participate in the tournament as last time the likes of Jonny Bairstow didn’t participate to manage the workload. It would be interesting to see whether they participate as the tournament is slated to take place on 1st August just after the conclusion of Ashes 2023 when players would be exhausted. This year’s Ashes is considered to be a quite fascinating one as England’s Bazball approach would be tested.
