Australia star Glenn Maxwell is reportedly under investigation after a big night out that ended with him being admitted to the hospital. On Friday (January 19), he had to be rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Adelaide in an ambulance.

Three days before being hospitalized, he had represented Melbourne Stars in the ongoing Big Bash League. The star all-rounder led the team in the tournament but could not guide them to the finals. The Stars finished at the sixth spot in the points table after managing just 4 wins in 10 games.

Glenn Maxwell finished the competition with 243 runs in 9 games at a strike rate of almost 175. He also picked up 7 wickets with his off-spin. Soon after his team’s campaign in BBL 2023/24 ended, he stepped down as the captain of the team after failing to end its long wait for a maiden BBL title.

Glenn Maxwell ends up in the hospital after a night out:

A couple of days after playing his final game in BBL 2023/24, Glenn Maxwell enjoyed a night out but ended up in a hospital. According to a report in the Daily Mail, he is also under investigation for the night out. He was with other Australian and West Indian players watching former cricketer Brett Lee’s band, Six and Out, earlier in the night before the incident occurred.

The exact circumstances around Maxwell’s hospital visit remain unclear and Cricket Australia is currently investigating the matter. The World Cup-winning allrounder did not stay at the hospital overnight and is already back training for the upcoming T20 series against West Indies.

The allrounder has been rested for the ODI series against the West Indies although Cricket Australia has stated that it is unrelated to his hospitalisation. He has been replaced by Jake Fraser-McGurk in the ODI squad. The highly-rated batsman recently impressed in the BBL and has earned his maiden call-up.

Last month, Maxwell heaped praise on Fraser-McGurk as well, calling him the ‘most talented young batter in the country’.

“No one in Australia is better to watch then Fraser-McGurk,” Maxwell wrote on X. “His potential doesn’t actually have a ceiling.”
