High-flying Team India are just one win away from clinching the World Cup title. Eyeing their third World Cup title, India will take on five-time world champions Australia in the final on Sunday (November 19) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Men in Bue have just blown the opposition away in the competition and have won all of their ten games. One of the reasons behind India’s sheer domination in the tournament is the performance of their bowlers. The pacers as well as spinners have made a big impact for India in the competition. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja have the hosts’ attack as the most potent one in the competition.
Shami is currently leading the wicket-takers tally with a staggering 23 wickets from just 6 games. Bumrah has picked up 18 wickets while Siraj, Kuldeep, and Jadeja have taken 13, 15, and 16 wickets respectively. India will be hoping that their in-form bowlers inspire them to one more win.
India legend warns Rohit Sharma & Co.:
While Team India will begin the World Cup final as firm favorites, legendary Gundappa Viswanath has fired a timely warning to them. The former India batter has said that Australia’s opening pair of David Warner and Travis Head have the potential to blow away any bowling attack and warned India not to expect an easy outing.
“Australia’s batting is quite good. David Warner and Travis Head can destroy any bowler and with Mitchell Marsh, and (Steve) Smith, if Maxwell comes good, it is a balanced side. So can’t say that India can (win),” Viswanath was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
“I mean, India should win but you can’t take it for granted. It won’t be a cakewalk. If Australia gets an inch they won’t leave it, that is their hallmark. Till the last ball, they will fight. So, it is going to be one hell of a match.
“It is going to be a terrific match. India playing in India, and especially like the way they are playing in all departments, this gives a lot of hope to the fans,” he added.
Speaking further, Viswanath heaped the Indian team management for trusting the bowlers throughout the tournament irrespective of the situation, saying: “Sometimes you lose faith when you see a big partnership of opposition but that time also they kept their head high, that’s a terrific approach. We managed to carry on with five bowlers and never felt the need for a sixth bowler.
“Terrific approach, terrific consistency, and everyone knows their job, all the batters are doing well, and bowling and captaincy are also good. So, one more game to go,” he added.
Team India have already defeated Australia once in the competition. During the league stage, India thrashed Australia by 6 wickets to begin their campaign and will be hoping to end their campaign in a similar manner.
