Greatest T20 Final Knock: Twitter Explodes As Nicholas Pooran Smashes Unbeaten Ton To Power MI New York To MLC Title

Nicholas Pooran, on Monday (July 31), played one of the most devastating knocks in the history of T20 cricket to power MI New York to a thumping 7-wicket win over Seattle Orcas in the final of the first edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC). The MI New York captain smashed a whirlwind century to help his side become the champions of the first edition of the MLC.
MI New York were well on the backfoot after the first half of the game ended as the Orcas posted a big total. Riding on Quinton de Knock’s quickfire knock of 87 runs, the Seattle-based outfit finished their innings on 183 for 9. De Kock’s knock came off just 52 balls and was studded with nine fours and four sixes.

Seattle Orcas managed to breach the 180-run mark in spite of Trent Boult and Rashid Khan’s brilliant displays with the ball. While Rashid conceded only 9 runs in his 4 overs and picked up 3 wickets, Boult accounted for 3 wickets too.

Chasing 184 runs in the final, MI New York were well under pressure when they began their innings. And their chase took another blow when left-arm spinner Imad Wasim dismissed Steven Taylor for a duck in the very first over. But from thereon, it was a one-man show and one-way traffic as Nicholas Pooran just blew the Orcas away.
The MI New York skipper just batted in the fifth gear right from the word go as he took each Orcas bowlers to the cleaners. It took him just 16 balls to cross the 50-run mark as he smashed the fastest fifty of the tournament. By the time the powerplay ended, MI New York had raced away to 80 for 2 with Nicholas Pooran batting on 69 off just 22 balls.

The West Indies star dealt in boundaries throughout his knock. He completed his century off just 40 balls and eventually smashed 135 off just 55 balls as MI New York chased down the big total in just 16 overs. Nicholas Pooran hit a staggering 10 fours and 13 sixes during his incredible knock. And as he took the Orcas to the cleaners, the fans took to Twitter to lavish praise on him and call his knock the greatest-ever T20 knock in a final.
