It will be Master v Prodigy time at the Vivo IPL 2021 when last years’ finalists Delhi Capitals led by Rishabh Pant will lock horns with the three-time champions, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday night.

It will be a special night for Rishabh Pant as it will be the first time that he will be leading an IPL franchise.

Rishabh Pant, who has had a remarkable 2021 thus far, was handed over the Delhi Capitals reigns after regular skipper Shreyas Iyer got ruled out due to injury.

That said, Rishabh Pant will have a depleted team at his disposal on his captaincy debut. The South African pace duo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada, who took the bulk of the wickets last season, will be unavailable as they are currently in quarantine.

Axar Patel will also be unavailable due to Covid and veteran spinner Amit Mishra should slot-in in place of him.

As far as pacers are concerned DC will have to bank on the Indian duo of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav while English all-rounder Chris Woakes can slot in as the third seamer with Marcus Stoinis serving as 4th.

As far as Chennai Super Kings is concerned, Ruturaj Gaikwad should start as one of the openers alongside either Ambati Rayudu or Robin Uthappa.

The likes of Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, MA Dhoni will spearhead the middle-order followed by the spin-allrounders in Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja. One of Dwayne Bravo or Sam Curran is likely will serve as the seam-bowling all-rounder while Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur will serve as the other two-seamers.
