Meanwhile, since making a comeback after an injury, Pandya has been playing a specialist batsman in the team. However, his incapability to bowl has disturbed the balance of India’s Playing XI.
Hardik Pandya Currently Working On His Overall Fitness – Reports
According to the reports of ESPNcricinfo, the Baroda all-rounder has asked the Indian selection committee not to consider him for selection as he is working on his overall fitness and is eyeing a return to full-time bowling.
In the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, many cricket pundits criticised the selection of the fast bowling all-rounder in the team as a specialist batsman. Before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Hardik didn’t bowl in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021; still, he was given a place in the World Cup squad and in the crucial World Cup games, India fielded only 5 bowlers.
Meanwhile, despite being not fully fit, Hardik bowled 4 overs in the marquee T20 World Cup and went wicketless. Also, with the bat, he was unable to play any good innings for the Indian cricket team.
In the recent, New Zealand tour of India, 3-match T20I series Hardik Pandya was not selected, and Venkatesh Iyer was playing as a bowling all-rounder. Iyer is also expected to join India’s squad for the South Africa tour if Hardik is unavailable for selection.
