RCB’s Sensation Harshal Patel is in contention to be added as a net bowler to the Indian side for the T20 Worldcup in UAE on the back of an excellent IPL 2021 performance so far if the reports are to be believed. Along with Harshal Patel, few more impressive players who took part in the UAE phase of IPL 2021 are likely to be selected as net bowlers for T20 Worldcup.
This will be a huge boost to the Indian side with a lot of variety in the bowling lineup for nets and this will reduce the workload on the primary bowlers in the side. Harshal is the current leader of the pack for the purple cap race with 30 wickets already in 14 games and he is like to add to his tally in the few more games from playoff stages.
All Eyes On Varun Chakravarthy’s Fitness
The BCCI official had informed as per report that Varun Chakravarthy will certainly make it to the squad if his injury is manageable. A lot of doubts had popped up over his fitness in recent times and he has fought a long way to get to this place. He will also be a key bowler for the Indian side in the T20 Worldcup.
“Chakravarthy was selected because he was fit to play. If his injury can be managed through the World Cup, he will certainly be in the team,” as per reports of a top BCCI official.
Yuvzendra Chahal Might Stay In UAE
Yuzvendra Chahal is likely to stay in UAE after his impressive stint for RCB in this second phase of IPL 2021. He has bowled economically and has taken wickets consistently to find his rhythm back. It will be interesting to see if the selectors add him to the squad as a cover for Varun Chakravarthy or the out-of-form Rahul Chahar.
“No decision has been taken on Chahal. It’s unfortunate that Mumbai Indians had dropped Rahul Chahar from the playing XI. If Chahal will be asked to stay back as a cover will be decided once the selectors and team management discuss the situation,” the official added.
Sunrisers Hyderabad quick pacer Umran Malik is also among the names discussed for the Indian team net bowlers and this will play a big part in defining his career.
