“He Has Reacted Very Well” – Netherlands Coach Ryan Campbell Stable After Heart Attack

On Sunday, the Australian Cricketers’ Association provided a health condition update of Netherlands Coach Ryan Campbell on behalf of the Campbell Family.
The Netherlands coach Ryan Campbell had suffered a heart attack last Saturday and he was in intensive care in an induced coma. However, after 4 days it was revealed by his brother Mark Campbell that the Netherlands coach was breathing on his own and was out of the coma.

Meanwhile, Ryan Campbell had become the coach of the Netherlands in 2017 and has helped the team earn an ODI status and under him, the team made it to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Also, he recently led the Netherlands on the limited-overs tour of New Zealand.

On Sunday, in a statement shared by the Australian Cricketers’ Association, it was revealed that Ryan is in a stable condition and he is out of sedation. The statement added that the doctors are hoping that with continued progress he should make a full recovery.
“The family is thrilled to announce that this afternoon the incredible staff at the Royal Stoke University Hospital successfully discontinued Ryan’s sedation,” the statement, shared on social media, said.
“He has reacted very well and is now in a stable condition. Whilst still very weak he is talking and responsive. Doctors hope that with continued progress he should make a full recovery.”

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Ryan Campbell played two ODIs for Australia in 2002 when Adam Gilchrist was absent from the team.
He played 98 games in his first-class career between 1994 and 2000 and scored 6009 runs. At the age of 44, he made his T20I debut for Hong Kong and went on to play 3 T20Is in his career.
