He Makes Bowlers Look Silly But Needs To Get His Act Together: R Sridhar On Why India's 22-Year-Old Youngster Has Faded

R Sridhar believes that Prithvi Shaw’s dismissal was due to poor form and fitness. Despite several young players receiving regular opportunities for the Indian team, Prithvi Shaw’s talent has not appeared anywhere in the last year.
Shaw has not played for India in almost a year; his last game was a T20I against Sri Lanka in July of 2021. Since then, he has had trouble earning a spot in India’s teams.
Since making his international debut in 2018, Shaw, who was once anticipated to be Indian cricket’s next great thing, has significantly dropped off the radar. Shaw has fallen down the pecking order due to his bad form, controversy, and fitness issues, and he is unable to gain a spot even in the secondary team. Many people, including former India fielding coach R Sridhar, were shocked at Shaw’s mistake.
We all ponder the question, “Why?” In a response on Cricket.com, Sridhar stated. “A batter who utterly humiliates bowlers. He plays the off-side so well. His hands are excellent at going through the ball. You can bowl any length to him, and he can catch it in the gap and other such things.”
His performances fell apart a little bit: R Sridhar
Shaw developed typhoid during the IPL, which required him to miss Delhi Capitals’ final four games. Sridhar identifies two factors that contributed to Shaw’s failure.
“His fitness is the first factor contributing to his decline in the hierarchy. I have no idea why he is unable to join these squads. He had a strong start to the IPL, but as the competition went on, I would say that his performances gradually declined,” R Sridhar said.
“We might be treating the child too harshly. We must give him some time. He needs to develop his work ethic because he is a young person and needs to get his act together,” R Sridhar added.
Shaw led Mumbai as their captain and guided them to the Ranji Trophy final, but even there, his performances fell short of expectations. With three half-centuries, he scores 355 from six games at an average of 35.5
