Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has also reacted to Jasprit Bumrah‘s viral Instagram story. The India pace spearhead caused quite a stir in the Indian cricket fraternity by posting a cryptic message on his Instagram account.
It was his first social media activity since the heartbreaking loss in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 earlier this month. The fast bowler posted a message on the story that read: “Silence is sometimes the best answer.” The unexpected cryptic message from Jasprit Bumrah surprised the fans who have been trying hard to find the reason behind it.
And while not many know the reason behind the cryptic post, Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes that it has something to do with the return of Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians. The India allrounder sealed a sensational transfer to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans earlier this week.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth on Jasprit Bumrah’s cryptic post:
Jasprit Bumrah posted the message just a day after Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians was confirmed by the franchise. Soon after his story became viral, a few fans also claimed that the bowler had unfollowed the IPL franchise on Instagram, while others stated that he was set to move to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
And Srikkanth also believes that Jasprit Bumrah might have been hurt by Pandya’s arrival since it could have impacted his chances of becoming the captain of Mumbai Indians after Rohit Sharma. He also called the bowler a down-to-earth person and stated that something must have happened which has left him annoyed.
“You can’t find another cricketer like Jasprit Bumrah. Be it Tests or white-ball cricket, he is one of the best going around. He gave it his all in the World Cup. And as you said, in the 5th Test against England, he was the stand-in Test captain in 2022.
“He might have regrets. He would have been hurt. He must be feeling that he stayed back with MI but the franchise is now celebrating someone who left and came back. ‘You are making him the biggest thing on earth’. He might feel it’s not fair,” Kris Srikkanth said in a video on his YouTube channel.
“Something, similar happened with Ravindra Jadeja at CSK. But the team management and the captain came in and sorted out everything. In my opinion, what will happen is… I am sure the team management will sit with Pandya, Bumrah, and Rohit and sort out things. As a team only, you can only win championships.
“I would been hurt if something like that happened to me. After Hardik Pandya has returned, Bumrah might think, I am from Gujarat, I could have captained that team. I don’t know whether it’s a lack of communication. Something must have happened. Otherwise, Bumrah, who is such a down-to-earth person… He is a fantastic human being, if he is getting annoyed, obviously, something must have happened,” Srikanth added.
