"Heartbreak For South Africa" - Twitter Reacts As Australia Beat Proteas To Qualify For World Cup Final

The second semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 was played between Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team and Pat Cummins-led Australia National Cricket Team at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, November 16.
South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first in the match. They made one change to their playing XI as Tabraiz Shamsi replaced Lungi Ngidi. The Aussies also made a couple of changes as Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc returned to the playing XI while Marcus Stoinis and Sean Abbott missed out.
The decision to bat first wasn’t a good one for the team as they faced a top-order collapse. Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, and Aiden Markram failed miserably to leave the Proteas in a spot of bother.
However, David Miller joined forces with Heinrich Klaasen to bring his team back into the match. They added 95 runs in 113 balls to put the opposition bowlers under pressure. The duo were playing good cricket, but the partnership was broken by part-timer Travis Head.
David Miller smashed a sensational century and steered his side to a decent total of 212 runs on the board. He scored 101 runs off 116 balls, with 8 fours and 5 sixes. On the other hand, Klaasen chipped in with 47 runs off 48 balls, with 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Chasing the target, openers David Warner and Travis Head provided their side with a terrific start. The duo played an attacking brand of cricket and pushed the Proteas on the backfoot. Travis Head smashed a brilliant 62 runs but other than him no batter hit a fifty.
After that, the Proteas bowling unit showed their class and brought back the momentum towards their side. They picked wickets at regular intervals and pushed the Aussies on the back foot.
In the end, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins stitched together a crucial 22-run partnership to steer their team to victory. The Aussies won the match by 3 wickets. Australia will next take on India National Cricket Team in the summit clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.

IMHO, You can’t choke while bowling. It’s only when two people are in the middle with a bat in hand you see things going haywire…the fear of failure takes over. This won’t and shouldn’t be called a Choke. https://t.co/1A6JNBHhCA

Terrific semi final it turned out. Aussies win humdinger in nail-biting finish. SA left to rue poor batting at the top & missing some crucial catches. Their spin bowlers were magnificent, tying batsmen in knots, but better temperament saw Aus saw thru for title clash with India

Great fight by SA after getting 212, needed everything to go their way and stick. Top knock by Miller.

In some ways it only seems apt that two non-subcontinental teams have had to overcome a turning pitch in a scrappy affair to get through to a World Cup final in India #CWC23 #AusvSA

A better captain having a horrible day wasn't on list when everyone was talking About SA's history in knockouts & predicting it to continue
poor strokes, dropped catches happen but some of the choices in field while defending didn't help the effort bowlers put in to defend 213

Southafrica have been brilliant throughout this #CWC2023 . Mind you, this is not a choke ! They fought well and should be proud of themselves. Australia just knows how to win knock out games. Spare a thought for Qdk playing his last game, he’s been incredible ambassador for them…
