Former Team India captain Kris Srikkanth said that England all-rounder Sam Curran could struggle against Indian batters in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5. Srikkanth stated that if Curran bowls in the match, India’s aggressive top-order players could attack him.

Sam Curran has delivered mixed results for England during the World Cup. Curran has taken six wickets from seven games at an average of over 25 and an economy rate of 8.60. He also delivered important spells at the death against Nepal and Italy during the group stage, helping England win those matches.

Sam Curran’s Bowling Is Terrible - Kris Srikkanth

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kris Srikkanth shared strong views about Sam Curran’s bowling. He stated that Curran has not been effective with the ball in the tournament. He added that players like Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson might attack the left-arm pacer right from the start.

"Sam Curran is playing just as a batter. Except for the Nepal match, his bowling is terrible. If Curran bowls, the Indian batters will smash him to Church Gate and Marine Drive," Srikkanth said.

"If they open with Sam Curran, Abhishek Sharma, and Sanju Samson will smash him straight to the Church Gate station. One ball will head to the Marine Drive," he added.

India-New Zealand Final Is Prewritten - Kris Srikkanth

Kris Srikkanth raised concerns about England’s batting depth. He stated that only a few English batters, including Harry Brook and Will Jacks, have shown consistent form in the tournament. The former India captain also said that Varun Chakaravarthy has enjoyed strong success against England in T20Is.

"England's lineup relies heavily on Salt and Buttler. Though Brook is good, someone like Bethell is a guaranteed wicket for India. He'll play across the line to a Varun Chakaravarthy and sky one to get out. India are firm favorites, probably 70-30 to India. They are a far superior side to England," said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).

"Only Harry Brook and Will Jacks have been consistently playing well. England's batting has a massive issue. The match will be decided in the first six overs of both team's batting. India-New Zealand final is prewritten," he added.

India Eye Strong Performance Against England in T20 World Cup 2026 Semifinal

India secured their place in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinals after finishing second in Super 8 Group 1. The team suffered a 76-run loss to South Africa in Ahmedabad but bounced back strongly with a 72-run win over Zimbabwe in Chennai. They then recorded a five-wicket victory over the West Indies.

Sanju Samson scored an unbeaten 97 from 50 balls, including 12 fours and four sixes. He helped India chase down the target comfortably. India will also hope that opener Abhishek Sharma finds better form in the semifinal against England.

Harry Brook and Will Jacks have scored 228 and 191 runs, respectively, in the tournament. However, their openers Jos Buttler and Phil Salt have struggled.

Varun Chakaravarthy has taken 14 wickets in five matches against England at an average of under 10 and an economy rate of 7.66. In the ongoing tournament, Varun has picked up 12 wickets at an average of 15.33 with the same economy rate of 7.66.
