Senior Indian pacer Umesh Yadav, who will be playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, has said that he is hoping to play as many games as possible for Kolkata Knight Riders and send out a message for the Indian team management that he is still a white-ball cricketer.
Umesh Yadav last played One Day International for India in 2018 and T20 International in 2019, since then he has been seen as a Test specialist in the Indian team.

In an interview with TOI, Umesh Yadav was asked does he sees IPL 2022 as a stepping stone to make it back to limited-overs cricket for India. Umesh responded by saying that he is confident he will get a chance in the limited-overs team if he performs well in the Indian Premier League for KKR. He elaborated:
“Definitely. This is a great thing that happened to me that I joined KKR again. I am hoping to play as many games for KKR as possible and send out a message that I am a white-ball cricketer too.”
“If I do well, I am sure the selectors will look at me and give me the chance once again in limited-overs cricket. For that, I will have to be at my best in the IPL. I have to push hard for that chance. I am confident that I will make it to white-ball cricket for India again.”

The 34-year-old was further asked that with the two World Cups approaching does he sees himself boarding Team India’s World Cup bus, to which he replied that for getting a spot in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and Cricket World Cup 2023 teams he will have to perform well in Indian Premier League and he was confident that he will deliver a good performance in the 15th edition of the tournament.
“Definitely. For that, I will have to give my best in the IPL. I am confident that I will have a good time in this year’s IPL. I hope to have a good IPL season. I am trying to push hard. I am hopeful of making the cut for the T20 World Cup this year and next year’s ODI World Cup as well.”
Umesh Yadav, who was part of KKR’s 2014 IPL triumph, was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction for INR 2 crore.
