I Am Eagerly Looking Forward To Yuvraj Singh's Call - USA Batsman Jaskaran Malhotra After Hitting Six Sixes In An Over
United States of America (USA) batsman Jaskaran Malhotra has revealed that he’s eagerly waiting for a call from Yuvraj Singh. Jaskaran became an internet sensation overnight after scoring six sixes in an ODI on Thursday.
The American entered the history books by becoming the fourth batsman to achieve the feat in international cricket. Herschelle Gibbs did it against the Netherlands, Yuvraj did it against England, and Kieron Pollard did it against Sri Lanka.
Jaskaran entered the list during his brilliant knock of 173* off 124 balls against Papua New Guinea (PNG). It included four fours and sixteen sixes and was also the first century by an American.
“I know Yuvi paaji will also be calling me soon. I am eagerly looking forward to that,” Jaskaran was quoted as saying to ESPNcricinfo.
“It’s quite amazing, really. I had not planned on any such things when I went in to bat. I entered the field with our team in a spot of bother, having lost three wickets for 29 inside the first ten overs,” he added.
“I am grateful that I was able to equal this record” – Jaskaran Malhotra
Jaskaran came in at a time when his team needed a partnership. The pressure was on the USA when he walked in and changed the course of the game. Revealing his thought process during the innings, Jaskaran said:
“My first target was to just still the end. As the innings progressed, I got the confidence to play my shots. In the final over, once I was able to hit four sixes, that’s when the thought of six sixes first came in. I am grateful that I was able to equal this record,” Jaskaran said.
The USA went on to win the match by 134 runs on the back of Jaskaran Malhotra’s match-winning innings.
