India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson talked about batting at different positions for the India National Cricket Team. The Rajasthan Royals captain stated that he is ready to bat at any position the team will ask him to bat.

India keeper-batter Sanju Samson has to be one of the unluckiest players in Indian cricket. It's fair to say that the right-hander is one of the most talented batters going around in the world as his stroke-making and six-hitting ability has been exceptional.

Sanju Samson made himself a huge name in the Indian Premier League in the last few years. Him being a consistent performer in the IPL also saw him getting opportunities in the Indian team but the keeper-batter hasn't been given the long rope as some of the other players are getting.

Even in the limited opportunities that Sanju Samson has been getting, the keeper-batter hasn't been getting to bat at his preferred batting position. Sanju batting at different positions hasn't allowed him to get the desired role as he has been asked to open and sometimes to bat in the middle order.

This hasn't allowed Sanju Samson to perform consistently. The keeper-batter has struggled to score runs in the T20Is and has also faced a fair amount of criticism for not cashing the opportunities. However, moving from one batting position to another hasn't helped him at all.

Sanju Samson in the 30 T20Is has mustered just 444 runs at an average of just 19.3. The keeper-batter also has a strike rate of 130 and has managed just 2 half-centuries so far in his career. It's fair to say that number clearly doesn't depict the kind of talent he possesses.

Meanwhile, in the ODIs, Sanju Samson has been batting mostly in the middle order which has allowed him to settle into the and score runs consistently. In the 16 games, he has scored 510 runs at an average of over 56, to go with 3 half-centuries and 1 century.

I am ready to play any required position - Sanju Samson

During a recent interaction on Zee TV, a journalist asked Sanju Samson, "Have seen you playing at different positions from opening to No5? What do have to say on that?"

Replying to this, Sanju Samson stated that wherever the team wants him to, he will play as he doesn't have any requirements. He stated that he is ready to play at any required position. He elaborated:

"As I told you where they will play me I will play I don't have requirements. I am ready to play any required position."

Sanju Samson was last seen in action during the T20I series against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The right-hander missed the first game and played the last two games. Opening the innings, he couldn't perform as he bagged two back-to-back ducks in the last two games of the series. With the Bangladesh T20I series slated to take place in September, it remains to be seen if the keeper-batter will make the cut into the squad for the series.
