I didn't expect it to be easy - Axar Patel on DC winning three back-to-back matches
Winning the toss and batting first, Delhi Capitals did a great job and posted 183/6 on the board. KL Rahul shined with the bat for his team as he slammed 77 runs off 51 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes.
Defending the score, Delhi Capitals bowlers were right on the money, and they restricted CSK to 158/5 in 20 overs with all the bowlers making contributions.
Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Axar Patel said that he didn't expect the Delhi Capitals to register three back-to-back wins on the trot under his leadership. He said:
"I didn't expect it to be easy (on winning three on the bounce). Everyone contributed, and the team balance looks good. Feels good as a captain to win three out of three."
I was saving myself - Axar Patel
Axar Patel surprisingly bowled just one over in the match against CSK and conceded 5 runs. Talking about this move, the Delhi Capitals skipper revealed that he is nursing a finger injury. Axar Patel said:
"I was saving myself (on not bowling much today) and I also have an injured finger.".
Axar Patel further opined that they are yet to play a perfect match in the Indian Premier League 2025 as they have made enough mistakes. He stated:
"Every match, there are some great catches and some drops as well. As a captain, I don't think we have played a perfect match yet. IPL is a long tournament, the momentum can swing anytime."
How did DC perform in the previous IPL match against CSK?
Delhi Capitals registered a commanding 20-run win over Chennai Super Kings in Visakhapatnam in their previous Indian Premier League clash.
Batting first, Prithvi Shaw and David Warner provided DC with a blazing start. The duo stitched a 93-run partnership in just 9.3 overs, taking CSK bowlers to the cleaners.
Shaw’s 43-run knock and Warner’s 52-run innings set the tone for a big score and Rishabh Pant made the most of it with a 31-ball fifty that helped Delhi Capitals post 191/5 on the board.
On the bowling front, Khaleel Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi Capitals while defending the score. He rocked CSK early with the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra inside three overs. Then, Mukesh Kumar took over, picking 3 wickets to break the back of CSK. Even though CSK staged a mini comeback, they were eventually restricted to 171/6.
