Legendary New Zealand cricketer and one of the greatest all-rounder that world cricket has ever seen, Sir Richard Hadlee, has endorsed Virat Kohli’s on-field aggression.

In a recent chat with CricBuzz, Sir Richard Hadlee was asked about his views on Virat Kohli’s on-field persona and whether he endorses the same.

To which, Hadlee replied that he sees Virat as a very ‘passionate’ and ‘competitive’ cricketer and that his on-field aggression is a reflection of his unrelenting desire to see himself and his team succeed.

Virat Kohli’s on-field aggression has often had a polarizing effect on cricketing folklore.

While his fans (and there are loads of them) see his on-field persona as a reflection of a 21st century India; an India which is feisty, non-compromising, competitive, and hungry for success, his detractors often accuse him of crossing the line.

As far as Sir Richard Hadlee is concerned, the legendary all-rounder likes seeing players like Virat Kohli expressing themselves towards the opposition.

”All sports at the highest level are about competing. It is finding a way to win a game and gain an advantage over one’s opponent. There will always be a fine line as to whether gamesmanship from a player or a team goes too far. I quite like seeing any player expressing himself towards the opposition by having a real presence – it is a form of intimidation that can be unsettling. I see Virat as being a very passionate and competitive cricketer with a strong desire for himself and the team to succeed,” said Sir Richard Hadlee.
