Rinku Singh has finally broken his silence on his IPL salary. The left-handed batsman receives Rs 55 lakh as salary from Kolkata Knight Riders.

Many believe that the salary is very low for a player of Rinku Singh's caliber. The Southpaw is one of the most sought-after T20 players in the country but his IPL salary is very low when compared to other big names who earn in crores. Even a number of uncapped players have multi-crore contracts from their IPL franchises.

Unsurprisingly, Rinku Singh's IPL salary becomes a major talking point every now and then. However, the KKR star himself has no issues with his salary as he said that he is very satisfied with it. The Uttar Pradesh star pointed out his humble beginnings and said that even 55 lakhs is a very substantial amount for someone who was desperate to earn Rs 5-10 as a child.

"Even Rs 50-55 lakh is a lot. When I started, I didn't even think that I would earn so much. At that time, when I was a child, I felt that if I could get even Rs 10-5, I would do it somehow. Now getting Rs 55 lakh is a lot, one should be happy with whatever God gives. This is my thinking.

"I don't feel at all that I should have received this much money and that much. I am very happy even with Rs 55 lakh. When this did not happen then it was known how much money is worth," Rinku Singh told Dainik Jagran.

Rinku Singh on his World Cup snub:

Rinku Singh also opened up on his World Cup snub. The selectors sprung a huge surprise by not naming him in the main squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 although he is one of the reserves. After the squad was announced, Rinku met captain Rohit Sharma and revealed the conversation he had with the skipper.

The star batsman admitted that he was sad over the snub despite performing well before saying that he is not thinking too much about something that is not in his control.

"Yes, anyone feels a little sad if they are not selected despite good performance. However, this time the selection could not take place due to team combination. No matter what, one should not think too much about what is not in one's hands. Yes, I was a little worried in the beginning.

"Okay whatever happened. Whatever happens, happens only for good. Rohit bhaiya did not say anything special. All he said was to just keep working hard. There is the World Cup again after two years. There is no need to worry more. That's all he said to me," Rinku added.
