Newly appointed Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has said that he has no plans to lead the national team in limited-overs cricket, and he would love to concentrate on red-ball cricket.
Star pacer Pat Cummins is the 47th Aussie to get the privilege to lead the team in the purest format of the game. Also, Cummins is the first pacer to lead Australia in Test cricket in the last 65 years.

Talking about leading the team in white-ball cricket, Cummins said that his preference at the moment is to have a split captain in red-ball and white-ball cricket.
“It’s probably too early to say, mainly because I start this role and see where we go. My gut feeling and preference at the moment is to have separate captains. I think it’s too much to ask, certainly of me. I’d love to just concentrate on Test cricket,” Pat Cummins said.
Aaron Finch Is Doing A Fantastic Job – Pat Cummins
The 35-year-old Finch recently led Australia towards their maiden T20 World Cup title, and he is expected to continue as captain till the 2023 ODI World Cup, and after that, Australia will be forced to find his successor.
Meanwhile, talking about Finch, the Test captain Cummins said: “Aaron’s doing a fantastic job, someone who can take the white-ball squad teams to make it their own, take it in their own direction”.
Also, the 28-year-old added that he is purely focused on Test cricket and is not thinking about anything else at the moment.
“At the moment I’m purely focused on tests, that will stay the same for the foreseeable future.
“Probably not fully. I think until I walk out at the Gabba and see a big home crowd, pull on the Baggy Green (cap) and go out for the toss that’s when it’ll probably hit me. It’s a bit of a weird feeling,” Pat Cummins further added.
Cummins, alongside his deputy Steve Smith who has made a comeback in the leadership role, will be leading Australia in the Ashes 2021-22 series against England, which will begin from December 8 at the Gabba, Brisbane.
