The veteran India National Cricket Team spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is not a happy man after he was snubbed from the ODI squad for the series against the Australia National Cricket Team.
Ravindra Jadeja, while speaking at a press conference, has made it pretty clear that he wishes to play one more ICC Men's Cricket World Cup for the India National Cricket Team in 2027.
Ajit Agarkar snubs Ravindra Jadeja for the Australia tour
Jadeja, who is regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of cricket, has already retired from T20I cricket, but is active in the other two formats - Tests and ODIs.
Thanks to his elite fitness, the 36-year-old is at the peak of his powers and has been firing both with the bat and ball in Test cricket. He has made unbelievable improvements in his batting and has been one of India's top batters in Test cricket in the last few years.
Not just with the bat, Jadeja has been sensational with the ball for India as well, and in the ongoing series against the West Indies at home, he has once again brought out his beast mode.
He won the Player of the Series award in India's Test series opener against the West Indies for his all-round heroics, and on the very same day, Ajit Agarkar snubbed him from the ODI squad for the Australia tour.
The senior all-rounder didn't get a place in the ODI squad as the selectors decided to pick Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav as the three spin-bowling options. Jadeja's snub surprised many as he was part of India's last ODI assignment - ICC Champions Trophy 2025 - and played a vital role in the victory.

Speaking to the reporters after the second day's play against West Indies in Delhi, Jadeja openly expressed his desire to play the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027.
He also talked about his ODI snub and revealed that the selection committee and captain tried explaining to him the reason, which he didn't understand.
“I want to play 2027 world cup obviously. It’s always a selection call. Good thing is that selectors and captain spoke to me and explained and i don't understand the reasons. Everyone's dream is to win ODI world cup," Ravindra Jadeja said as quoted by Vimal Kumar.

Notably, when Ajit Agarkar was asked the reason behind Ravindra Jadeja's omission, he said that they could only take one left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder for the Australia tour; hence, Axar Patel got the nod ahead of Jadeja. However, he made it clear that Jadeja was still in the scheme of things.
Ravindra Jadeja flexes his skills
During the same interaction with the media, Jadeja decided to flex his exceptional all-round skills, saying that he becomes a batter on batting-friendly surfaces and a bowler on spin-friendly pitches.
"I become a batter on batting wickets and bowler on bowling wickets," the champion all-rounder said.
While talking about the track at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi not offering much turn, he said:
“I am not surprised. We have asked for slow turn. We have not asked for rank turners."
The senior all-rounder further lavished rich praise on the captain, Shubman Gill, as well as the supremely talented opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. He said:
"As a captain Shubhman Gill is doing well since the England series. The young generation is taking more responsibility. People like Yashasvi Jaiswal don't leave it on others to complete the job."
