Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja asserted that the BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, had invited him to watch the IPL twice but he wasn’t sure whether to attend the event.

The two nations are at loggerheads on a political basis and it has affected the cricketing aspect of their relationship as well. Both Ramiz and Ganguly have tried to mend it but so far, things haven’t worked out.

See, I’ve had conversations with Sourav Ganguly on the sidelines. I keep telling him, there are 2-3 cricketers who are currently the board presidents or chairman. If we can’t bring a difference, what’s the point?

He also has his own concerns, unfortunately. On two different occasions, he invited me to IPL; once in Dubai and once this year. I was confused about whether or not to attend. I thought if I went there, fans will not spare me,” Ramiz said in a press conference.

“If it were a cricket game, this would have been solved in two minutes” – Ramiz Raja

Ramiz also said the political nature of the issues doesn’t allow them to solve the matter. The last time India and Pakistan played in a bilateral series was back in 2012/13 when the latter visited for a white-ball tour.

There might be a cricketing sense to it (attending the IPL), yes, but right now, there are some cracks that need to be filled because it’s a political game. If it were a cricket game, this would have been solved in two minutes.”

See, we secured the hosting rights for 2025 Champions Trophy, which means we have tried to break that influence and people have started recognising that Pakistan’s team and fans deserve such world-class events,” he also added.
