I Was Told Virat Kohli Is Just Being Held Back From Press Conferences Because... – Rahul Dravid Reveals Reason Behind Test Captain Not Attending Pressers

India head coach Rahul Dravid has revealed the real reason behind Indian red-ball skipper Virat Kohli not attending the press conference on the eve of Test matches against South Africa.
Generally, the skippers of the team address the press on the eve of Test matches but this has not been the case with Virat Kohli as he did not attend a press conference before the Centurion Test against South Africa and on the eve of the second Test against South Africa Dravid addressed the pre-match press conference instead of Kohli.

In the press conference, Dravid was asked if Virat Kohli was avoiding talking to the press due to the ODI captaincy controversy. To which he responded that Kohli was being held back because the management wants Kohli to speak to the press in a grand manner ahead of his 100th Test game which will be against South Africa in Cape Town on January 11.
“Nothing like that, I was told Virat is just being held back from press conferences for now because he has his 100th Test coming up in Cape Town. If he addresses the press then, it can be a big event. The reporters can ask him questions about his 100th Test then.
“You can celebrate him then. As far as I know, there is no other reason he is not here,” Dravid said on the eve of the 2nd Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
Rahul Dravid further asserted: “It’s not like he has not been speaking. He is very involved in the game, and in between the games… he has interviews during the Test, toss and all that. He will speak to the media before his 100th Test.”
Virat Kohli Has Been Absolutely Phenomenal Over The Last 20 Days – Rahul Dravid
Dravid also lauded Virat Kohli for ignoring the outside noise surrounding him and keeping the morale of the group high.
“I know there has been a lot of noise around other issues even leading into this particular Test match. But keeping the morale of the group high is not really difficult because it has been led by the skipper himself.
“Virat has been absolutely phenomenal over the last 20 days that we have been here with the way he has trained and connected with the group,” he added.
