ICC Announces Fixtures For ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023

On Monday, October 3, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the complete schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be held in South Africa in February.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, which will be the eighth edition of the tournament, is set to commence on February 10, 2023, and the summit clash is scheduled to take place on February 26, 2023. Also, February 27 has been kept as a reserve day for the final.

Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are placed in the Group 1 of the marquee tournament while England, India, West Indies, Pakistan and Ireland are placed in Group 2.

In the group stage round of the tournament, each team will lock horns with the other four teams in their group once and the top two teams in each group at the end of the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals.

Also, the matches of the multi-nation tournament are set to take place in Cape Town, Paarl and Gqeberha.

In an official statement released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday, October 3, ICC Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice said:

“We are thrilled to be announcing the match schedule for the next ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as we look to build on the success of Australia 2020 and host a uniquely African celebration of cricket.

“As a key strategic priority for the sport, women’s cricket continues to build momentum and engage more fans than ever before. With T20 as the growth vehicle for cricket, we are confident that this event and the inaugural U19 Women’s T20 World Cup preceding the senior event will leave a lasting legacy to grow girls and women’s cricket around the world.”

Legendary India Women’s National Cricket Team skipper and batter Mithali Raj said:

“The announcement of the schedule takes us one step closer to the Women’s T20 World Cup. This has been a fantastic period for the growth of the women’s game, and I am sure fans in South Africa will be out in huge numbers to support the players.

“I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in ICC tournaments over the years and know what they mean to players globally. I can’t wait to watch some fast-paced, high-energy cricket and closely-fought, exciting matches.”
