ICC Announces The Men’s And Women’s Nominations for Player Of The Month For September 2021

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has nominations for the Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month for September 2021 on their website. The nominee list features a strong list of candidates sure to leave the fans torn.

The three men’s nominees are Bangladesh’s Nasum Ahmed, Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane and USA batting star Jaskaran Malhotra.

Nasum Ahmed was nominated because he was Bangladesh’s star performer in their home T20I series against New Zealand. He picked up 8 wickets in the series with a sensational performance of 4/10 in the fourth match and his accurate line and length left the visitors bamboozled. His deeds helped the hosts to arise victorious with a margin of 3-2 against the visitors.

Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane is already a global superstar thanks to his exploits in the various T20 leagues he participates in. However, he was nominated for the ICC men’s Player of the Month for September 2021, after being one of the stand-out performers in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.

In 6 ODIs, Sandeep picked 18 wickets at an average of 7.38 and his best of 6/18 came against Papua New Guinea.

Jaskaran Malhotra broke into the limelight after his belligerent 173* in a CWCL2 fixture against PNG. He also became only the fourth cricketer to hit six sixes in an over in an international fixture. Overall, in six ODIs he scored 261 runs at an average of 87, at a strike rate of 104.40.

Heather Knight And Lizelle Lee Nominated For ICC Player Of The Month For September 2021

The ICC nominations for the women’s player of the month for September 2021 features England’s Charlie Dean and Heather Knight, and South African opener Lizelle Lee.

Charlie Dean helped England beat New Zealand in their home ODI series as she scalped 10 scalps at an average of 19.20 and an economy rate of 4.64. England won the five-match series 4-1 with Dean taking (4/36) and (3/52) in the second and fourth ODIs respectively.

England skipper Heather Knight starred with both the bat and the ball as she scored 214 runs at an average of 42.80 and a strike rate of 88.06 in five ODIs. In the first and the fourth ODIs, she played substantial knocks of 89 and 101 respectively. She also got three wickets as well.

Lizelle Lee scored 248 runs at a stunning average of 124 during the 4-match ODI series against the West Indies in the Caribbean. She played three brilliant knocks of 91*, 78*, and 61 in the four matches.
